This remarkably beautiful flute trio by George Hargreaves is included in an anthology for flute trios of the Sibley Libray of Music of the Eastman School of Music, NY, USA, in which the flute trios by Kummer, Kuhlau, Walckiers and others can also be found. Unfortunately, no life data of the composer have survived in this anthology either, so that it remains to be seen whether light will one day be shed on the origins of this author.
Stylistically, the work can be placed in the first half of the 19th century. It was printed in London at the time and was probably later included in the aforementioned anthology for flute trios.
